Concealed Handgun Permits The process is easier than you think.
The laws related to concealed handgun permit training requirements changed as of July 1, 2025. On this date, new applications must be accompanied by evidence of competence with a firearm through an original training certificate from a certified instructor dated within one year of application. Additional information can be found at C.R.S. 18-12-203(1)(h).
Renewal applicants will be required to submit proof that they’ve completed a handgun refresher class taught by a certified instructor within 6 months prior to submission.
Out-of-state training certificates will NOT be accepted.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office accepts walk-ins after your application has been submitted online:
NEW Concealed Handgun Permit applicants from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at both the Justice Center in Castle Rock or the Sheriff’s Substation in Highlands Ranch.
RENEWAL applicants are accepted from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, at the Justice Center or from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays at the Sheriff’s Substation in Highlands Ranch.
